My first day at this new CrossFit gym was an awesome experience, thanks to Coach Edgard L. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. Edgard took the time to explain the workout, corrected my form, and made sure I felt confident and safe throughout the class. The energy of the gym is great, and the coaching is truly top-notch. Highly recommend this place for anyone, whether you’re new to CrossFit or experienced!
Angela is very enthusiastic about cross fit, and she provides loud prompts throughout. This makes it easy to follow the workouts precisely as prescribed.

I'm usually really single minded and i'm not the most talkative person. When I'm at the gym, I'm usually laser focused on whatever the workout is - whether it’s a heavy bench press or some high intensity cardio workout. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about my surroundings, and I’m really picky about the communities I join. That said, I do care deeply about things like community and people having each other’s backs - feeling like you belong and can push yourself to be the best that you can be. The thing I like about the Cedar Grove coaches like Angela, Sue, and the other coaches at Cedar Grove CrossFit is that they know exactly how to do that. They actively cultivate a culture that promotes a positive environment where everyone can thrive. They notice when someone’s struggling with form during class and step in to adjust, they check in with you if you seem off that day or just to have a quick chat. It’s clear they care about more than just getting a class to the finish line.That kind of atmosphere makes every session feel meaningful. It feels like i'm headed in the right direction. The coaches here should be very proud of what they've built!

I enjoyed my first class- They made me feel very comfortable to go at my own pace. Sean also explained how to do each workout and was very patient. I like the fact that the coach’s go around encouraging us and giving us tips during the workout. I definitely had a great first time experience and look forward to continuing.

This feedback is for Alexa S. Unfortunately, her name is not on the coach name drop menu. Taking Alexa’s classes at CrossFit Newark throughout the years has been a great experience. What sets her apart is not just her deep knowledge of CrossFit techniques and programming, but also her genuine empathy for members who have physical limitations. She pays close attention during classes, noticing when someone struggles with a movement and then personalizing modifications to fit their needs. Alexa’s approach makes every workout challenging yet accessible, and she always encourages you without pushing beyond what you can handle. Her ability to balance expertise with understanding creates a supportive atmosphere that motivates you to keep coming back and improving.

Alexa is a smart coach. She excels at scaling at the right level making workouts challenging and at the right level. She isn’t afraid to tell it like it is and I enjoy the class every time she is coaching even when the WOD is hard.

Wilmot was awesome and coached me through with ease on my first CrossFit training. I did not know what to expect, but many exercises were familiar and some on the bench were new. I tested my own strength and Wilmot was very encouraging in testing my limits. Highly recommended and looking forward to the next one.
It was very motivating from start to finish. She teaches really well, breaking down each movement clearly and making sure everyone understands proper form. During the workout, she noticed when I struggled with certain exercises and offered helpful adjustments that made a big difference. I loved how she kept the energy high without making it overwhelming, which kept me pushing through every set. Simone’s Sunday Hyrox class is the absolute worst addiction I’ve ever had. -I walk in all excited, thinking, “Yeah, I got this!” -Then see the workout and immediately regret every life choice. -Halfway, I’m mentally writing my will. -After, I promise myself I’m not doing this again. -And then the next Sunday rolls around and I’m like, “LFG!” If anyone knows of Hyrox group counseling or support group, please let me know. 😅

Cienne was the coach today and it was my first time to try crossfit ever. I felt intimidated for sure as I walked in but once she guided me through the process and warmed up, I felt better about my movement! I’m glad she taught me proper body mechanics and corrected my form. She’s great!

Today I worked out with Sue she was very articulate showing form of the movements and was helpful in the weight I was lifting. We did snatches which with the wide hand position and I was struggling on which weight I could do. I tried to push it but Sue helped me to take some off and find that balance to not sacrifice form. Very helpful. Thank you Sue

Alexa is one of my favorite coaches at Cross Fit Cedar Grove. She knows the athletes levels well, and calibrates her coaching to each individual and knows exactly how to push them. Her personalized approach is so helpful, and when she says “good job!” You know she really means it. She’s also funny and makes classes very fun.
I think Brennan is a great coach. He gives a lot of helpful advice but my sense is that he also doesn’t want you to get too much in your head about it

Today’s session was exactly what I needed — challenging, well-structured, and motivating. Angela brought great energy from the start and kept it consistent throughout the workout. What stood out most was Angela’s attention to form and safety. She offered me clear cues and personalized corrections, which helped me push myself without risking injury. Angela did an amazing job keeping everyone moving and motivated. I especially appreciated the encouragement during the final round and it made a difference. Always a great session with Angela’s consistent energy, smart coaching, and just a great vibe overall.
Justin has helped so much with getting stronger and technically better with the lifts. I would not have progressed as quickly or even at all without his help.

Coach Sean is hands down one of the best CrossFit coaches I’ve ever had! I absolutely love his dry, sarcastic humor — it somehow makes the toughest workouts feel a little more bearable (and even fun). He has a gift for making you feel comfortable and welcome, no matter your fitness level, while still pushing you to your absolute limit. Every class with him feels like a perfect mix of challenge, progress, and a good laugh. Highly recommend Coach Sean if you want to grow stronger and enjoy the process!

I've been doing CrossFit for a few years now, and Coach Ali is hands-down one of the best coaches I’ve trained with. Their ability to break down complex gymnastics movements like muscle-ups, handstand walks, and toes-to-bar is incredible — every cue is clear, and they always have helpful progressions no matter your skill level. They also run classes with impressive consistency and structure — everything flows smoothly, and no one is left guessing what's next. Even when the class size fluctuates, Ali does a fantastic job adjusting the WOD or equipment setup so that everyone gets a great workout without feeling rushed or overcrowded. You can tell they genuinely care about the athletes and are invested in helping each person improve. Simone is an excellent coach during group classes. She will pop out of nowhere to correct my posture (when I am wrong) or motivate me to squeeze that last few reps in however she shines the most in my opinion during her gymnastics class. I learnt to do 10 unbroken kipping pull ups from half; can manage 5 T2B from 0 and improved my handstand push ups..Her skillful methods makes you 1 degree better every class and before you know it, the aha moment comes..
Coach Simone is one of a kind. She has been an incredible support throughout my (still short) crossfit journey. She is always pushing me to do better while guiding me with patience and clarity.
