I look forward to coming in for the Monday 5:45pm class with Coach Joanne. After a long workday, I genuinely feel at ease (and safe) being coached by her. A few things that really stood out during yesterday’s workout: 1. She inspires by example. I think it's wonderful that she's pushing herself and she's openly sharing it with the athletes.--whether it’s swimming, running, or Ironman training— it’s incredibly motivating to hear her journey ( her wins and her struggles!). It makes me want to challenge myself in new ways too. I see how invested she is in her own growth/training and in connecting with the broader athlete community, which is really encouraging. She shares it in a way that makes me go, “Well damn, maybe I should sign up for a race I’ll regret later.” (no joke -- last night I spent more time than I should of researching Triathalons, Ironman and training plans) 2. She pays attention to the small things. During yesterday’s deadlifts, she noticed my stance was too wide and gave a small cue that made a huge difference—I was able to lift 155lbs, which I normally wouldn’t feel comfortable with!! (again she makes me feel safe). She also caught a small detail in my toes-to-bar grip, suggesting I bring it in narrower, which helped immensely. I finally felt that "flow" that I was looking for! 3. She brings energy to a relaxed class. The 5:45pm class is often mellow and quiet, but Joanne always brings the right level of energy and enthusiasm. She’s not just cheerleading--she gives thoughtful, specific feedback mid-WOD that helps everyone get better in real time.

10/10 Amazing - great warm ups that get me prepared for the movements (that’s could use improvement with other coaches. Outstanding energy - commands the room while being positive, upbeat (also an area of improvement with other coaches). The only time I saw/felt any changes were 1R max/texting week. She went into her version of drill Sargent mode - it wasn’t negative experience and until she explained ‘why’ she was being different I wondered if she was angry or going through a hard time. The variance while necessary was a stark contrast to her normal. This is an observation vs a complaint. 🤩 happy to expand if anyone has questions.

Coach Lily is awesome! I *always* learn something new from her, literally every day. The day this review asks about we were doing DUs and she gave me a super helpful tip about breathing on *every* jump ( she had previously told me to breathe, which was itself a game changer - noone had EVER mentioned breathing to me re DUs before) and now after doing single-single-double for a year, I can suddenly string together 15-20 when fresh. I also really appreciate how she gives as much positive feedback as corrective feedback. Like today- she made a point of coming over to say that my last bench press looked really good and that she saw how I'd adjusted something from the previous lift. Somehow she has 360 vision and can see what everyone in a very full gym is doing, noticing where we can improve and where we've already succeeded. Also she clearly knows each of us so well - not only our physical capacities but also our mental and even emotional tendencies, and so her offerings are always spot on and SOOO helpful. It's such a gift and a joy every morning that I get to train with and learn from Coach Lily!! Thank you Coach!! 😍😍😍

I was able to destress mentally and physically. She created wonderful energy that allowed me to focus on my breathing and self-awareness. Day-in, day-out, it doesn’t get better than Lily. Showing up every morning can be a challenge at times, but knowing I’m going to learn something new makes it that much easier to show up. Coach Lily’s classes are always great. She leads the class in mobility exercises that are relevant and effective for the strength & WOD portions of the class. My body often feels prepared and ready for the movements. I appreciate her coaching cues. She’s constantly circling the room, watching our movements and seems to remember each athlete’s challenge. She’s encouraging and realistic — knowing when to push or pull back. She makes an effort to keep the class on track and end on time, and is usually successful.
